There are two pathways depending on whether you already reside in Bahrain. The application age is generally 55 years or older.
Eligibility Category Monthly Income/Pension Threshold Residency/Work Experience Requirements
Foreign retirees (who have never worked in Bahrain): 4,000 Bahraini dinars or more (approximately 77,000 RMB). No specific requirements.
Retired residents of Bahrain (who have worked and retired in Bahrain) with an income of 2,000 Bahraini dinars or more (approximately 38,000 RMB) must have worked in Bahrain for at least 15 years.
Additional conditions:
• You will need to provide a valid passport, proof of health insurance, and bank statements for the past 6 months.
• Applicants holding a “retired person” visa are not allowed to work in Bahrain and must apply for another visa type.

Step 2: Apply Online
1. Visit bahrain.bh/Goldenresidency or evisa.gov.bh
2. Register an eKey digital account (used to log in to all Bahrain government services).
3. Select the "Retiree" category and upload the required materials.
Step 3: Pay the fees
• Phase 1: Pay the 5 BHD application fee online upon submission.
• Second stage: Pay the $300 BHD visa fee upon approval
Step 4: Approval and Issuance
The review process takes approximately 5-10 business days. Upon approval, you will receive an electronic copy of your 10-year long-term residency visa (Golden Visa).
