The key to a UK business visa lies in accurately distinguishing your purpose of visit: "pure business activities" or "working in the UK." According to the UK Home Office, most short-term business activities can be handled with a standard visitor visa, while those involving production in the UK or providing services to the local market require a work visa.

You need to choose the most suitable route based on your actual itinerary:
• Standard Visitor Visa: The most commonly used. Applicable for attending meetings, business banquets, negotiations and contract signings, short-term training (not for clients), site visits, and equipment installation (sent by overseas manufacturers).
• Senior or Specialist Worker visa: Applicable to senior executives or experts employed by overseas companies who are sent to UK affiliates for business development purposes.
• UK Expansion Worker visa: Applicable to overseas companies sending employees to the UK to establish subsidiaries or branches that are not yet operating in the UK.
• Innovator Founder Visa: This visa is for individuals who plan to establish and operate an innovative business in the UK and require endorsement from a designated body.
B. Required conditions for applicants
1. Regarding the "Standard Visitor Visa"“
• Nationality/Identity: Hold a valid passport that is not a British citizen; applicants from some countries (including China) must apply in advance in their home country and cannot apply at the UK border.
• Authenticity of the purpose of the visit: It must be proven that the activities planned to be carried out in the UK fall under the category of "permitted business activities" (such as Category A above), and that the visiter will leave the UK after the trip.
• Funds and ties to home country: Able to prove sufficient funds to support the trip, and has stable employment, family or assets in the home country, with no intention of overstaying illegally.
2. Regarding the "Innovation Founder Visa"“
• Core endorsement: Must obtain an endorsement from a UK Home Office-approved body to demonstrate that the business idea is innovative, feasible, and scalable.
• Language requirements: English proficiency must reach CEFR B2 level (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or above).
• Funding requirements: A minimum of £1,270 (approximately RMB 12,000) in living expenses must be deposited in your personal bank account for at least 28 consecutive days.
C. Recommendation
1. Strictly distinguish between "business" and "work": Holders of standard visitor visas are strictly prohibited from receiving "compensation" (except for reasonable travel allowances), engaging in the sale of products or services to the public, or directly filling job vacancies in local companies in the UK.
2. Allow sufficient time: Standard visitor visas are typically issued within 3 weeks under non-expedited circumstances. If endorsement (such as for an innovative founder) or sponsorship (such as for a senior worker) is involved, it is recommended to extend the entire processing time to 7-11 weeks.
3. Make good use of expedited services: If your trip is urgent, you can purchase priority service (5 business days) or super priority service (1-2 business days) when you apply.
D. UK Business Visa Application Process (Taking Standard Visitor Visa as an Example)
• Step 1: Apply online: Visit the UK government website (GOV.UK), fill out the form, and pay the fee.
• Step 2: Upload materials: Submit your passport, proof of employment/dispatch, company invitation letter, and bank statements for the past six months online.
