Core Study Abroad Programs
There are two main types of options for studying abroad:
1. Public/national universities (such as Cairo University and Alexandria University): These are inexpensive and mostly taught in Arabic, making them suitable for students who value cost-effectiveness and have some Arabic language skills.
2. Branch campuses of foreign universities (such as the American University in Cairo, AUC): Instruction is in English, the education system is aligned with Europe and America, the cost is higher, and it is suitable for students with strong English skills who value international education systems.
3. Inter-school cooperation/preparatory programs: These are for specific majors (such as Arabic language, vocational and technical education) and usually have a simpler process.

Undergraduate high school diploma and transcript; some programs require completion of foundation courses or passing university entrance exams. • Language requirement waiver: Some institutions allow exemption from language requirements if the prior degree was taught in English.

Proof of funds is required to demonstrate the ability to cover tuition and living expenses for the first year. For example, AUC requires proof of funds of at least $33,000 per year; public universities have lower requirements.

Application process (taking fall admission as an example)
1. Preliminary preparation (January-March): Select target universities and majors, and prepare transcripts, language test scores, application documents, and portfolios (if applying for a design major).
2. Submit Application (April-June): Submit materials and pay the application fee on the university's official website. Note that some public universities require applications and degree verification through the unified "Egyptian Higher Education Ministers' Council" system.
3. Awaiting review and interview (July): Awaiting admission results; some institutions may require an interview.
4. Visa and Pre-departure (August-September):
• Visa: Apply to the Egyptian Embassy or Consulate in China with the original admission letter, medical examination report, proof of funds, and other relevant documents.
• Before departure: Arrange accommodation, purchase air tickets, and ensure that you purchase medical insurance that covers Egypt.
5. Enrollment: After arriving in Egypt, complete the medical examination and apply for a local residence permit.
