Program Overview
Malta is a member of the Schengen Area, and a Maltese tourist visa allows free travel among the 27 Schengen countries. Currently, Chinese citizens applying for Maltese tourist visas mainly need to submit their applications through the official partner VFS Global. The core requirements are proof of sufficient financial resources, reliable travel arrangements, and strong ties to China.
Project Description
This project falls under the category of short-stay Schengen visas, officially known as the "Uniform Schengen Visa".
• Suitable for: Those traveling to Malta for tourism, visiting relatives, or short-term business trips.
• Duration of stay: The cumulative stay shall not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.
• Convenient travel: Once approved, you can travel freely to Schengen Area countries such as France, Germany, and Italy without any additional application.

Eligibility & Requirements
Application requirements
We recommend preparing according to the following checklist; all items are required:
1. Passport and photo
• Passport: Valid for at least 3 months beyond the expected date of departure from the Schengen Area (6 months or more is generally recommended for safety margin) and has at least 2 blank pages.
• Photo: A color photo taken within the last 6 months on a white background, measuring 35mm x 45mm.
2. Personal identification
• Household registration booklet: Photocopies of the entire family's household registration booklet (original documents must be brought for verification).
• Marriage certificate: Please provide if applicable.
3. Proof of employment/enrollment
• For employed individuals: A leave approval letter printed on company letterhead in English, specifying the employee's position, monthly salary, leave period, and guarantee of returning to their home country, and stamped with the company seal.
• Retirees: Provide a photocopy of your retirement certificate.
• Students: Provide a letter of leave from the school, as well as a notarized birth certificate and a family permission certificate that has been apostilleed.
4. Proof of financial resources
• Core materials: Bank statements under your name for the past 3-6 months, with a suggested balance of over 50,000 yuan, to prove your daily spending ability.
• Supporting assets: Copies of property ownership certificates and vehicle ownership certificates can help with visa issuance.
5. Itinerary and Accommodation
• You must provide round-trip flight booking confirmations in English, hotel booking confirmations covering the entire trip, and a detailed itinerary in English.
6. Insurance
• Purchase medical insurance covering the entire Schengen Area, with accident medical coverage of no less than 30,000 euros (approximately 300,000 RMB).
7. Basic Application Form
• Download and complete the Schengen visa application form from the VFS website.

Application Process & Advice

1. Funds must be "stable": Bank statements should demonstrate a stable salary income. Do not suddenly deposit large sums of money close to the application deadline; without explanation, this may raise suspicion of temporary borrowing and lead to visa refusal.
2. Plan ahead: It is recommended to apply 1-2 months in advance, as the review process may take up to 15 working days or even longer during peak periods.
3. Awaiting new ETIAS regulations: Tourists planning to travel after the end of 2026 should note that at that time, even visa-free travelers will need to apply for the "European Travel Information and Authorization System" upon entry, at a cost of approximately 20 euros.
Malta tourist visa application process
1. Preparation and Appointment

2. Submit fingerprints
• I went to the visa center by appointment to submit my documents and pay the fee (approximately 710 RMB visa fee + approximately 280 RMB service fee for adults). My fingerprints and photo were taken on site (valid for 59 months).
3. Review and Retrieval
• The general review process takes 15 business days. Once approved, you can choose to pick up your passport in person or have it mailed back to you via a paid courier.
